Preserving and Protecting Cheltenham’s Imperial Square and Gardens Through FISHAC
In 2007, a group of individuals from Cheltenham established the Friends of Imperial Square Group (FISG) with the aim of preserving the beauty and heritage of Imperial Gardens. Their work led to the formation of Friends of Imperial Square Heritage and Conservation (FISHAC) in 2011, a registered charity that raises funds to restore and maintain the conservation assets of Imperial Square and Gardens.
FISHAC’s trustees collaborate with all stakeholders in this “people’s project” to safeguard and enhance the appearance, use and amenity of the area. The trustees are volunteers and do not receive any form of payment for their work on this community initiative.
The charity is currently raising funds to restore the railings lost during the war, and the trustees have generously donated to cover the charity’s initial costs and overheads. Supporters of the charity have also donated their time, facilities, products and professional expertise to the cause, ensuring that the charity’s direct costs remain low.
